The South Carolina Section of the American Chemical Society will offer a local section exam to qualify for the 2016 U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) on Saturday March 24, 2017, in Columbia, Charleston, and Florence. and on Saturday March 12 in Florence.
The identification of the four-member U.S. team begins at the local school system level. In order to identify qualified students we have decided to conduct a preliminary screening of students by participating in a section-sponsored examination. All students who participate will be recognized and presented with a certificate; some students receive recognition for outstanding performance in certain categories. We hope this recognition will serve to stimulate interest in chemistry and to promote a positive attitude toward chemistry.
We encourage teachers and parents of home-schooled children to enter students in this competition by completing and returning the registration form prior to March 17, 2017.
